Hi everybody! I have been so slack in my recent posts/lack of posts. I am so sorry! My final assignment for this semester/this year is due on Thursday night and then after that I'm all yours! (yours ... and then three jobs that I have :p)

Outfit of the day

This was my first ever attempt at photoshopping. I just changed the lighting and added a logo. I didn't do anything to my face I swear! haha. I just had to change the lighting because the image was so yellow and it was a new camera lens so I didn't really know what was happening .. anyway. Apologies if it is off :(

Tutorial for this look (which I don't think you can see...) will be up asap :)
I was going for a fun, sparkly, feel good look because I had studied hard for my exams and I just wanted to do something to relax

Haul: Crabtree & Evelyn + Evodia

SORRY, I haven't blogged in a few days. This is my last week of uni so I'm just trying to finish my last assignment and have it over and done with but here's a haul :)

So I went to Birkhenhead Point the other day ... I can't remember why but I think my bf wanted to buy something. I didn't leave with any clothing but I did surrender to these goodies ... enjoy

From Crabtree & Evelyn I purchased the Summer Hill Hydrating Body Mist 100mL which smells so damn good. It doesn't exactly remind me of summer as in sunshine lollipops but it does remind me of fields and grass and colonial times ... (like when Pride and Prejudice was set ... for some reason). It says there is extracts of linden, mallow and honey (I can definitely register the honey but I don't know what the other two are..the honey's not strong, it's just that I know what it smells like). So it's meant to moisturise the skin as well, which is just an extra bonus. Another bonus was that it was on sale haha. There is an image on the bottom if you would like to check ingredients.

I also purchased the Hand Therapy set of 6 x 25g hand creams which are perfect for travelling and keeping in your handbag and of course for trying out their different scents as I am new to Crabtree & Evelyn. (My bf actually asked me why I was buying paint ...)

Final thing from C&E was their Natural Rejuvinating Body Butter in Mango and Grapefruit. This smells so good I want to eat it all up, seriously. I love fruit, especially mango, especially grapefruit so this was just like heaven for me. You can smell when you have it one and it's just like YUM.

From evodia I purchased a Champagne Melon body mist and gloss set for $10! Yes it was 50% off the ticketed price :D haha. It's basically a nice melon scent but not too sweet and fruity as it does have that champagne punch too it, kind of like the tangy and crisp taste that champagne has. Wow I'm so bad at describing scents I'm just making stuff up now. Let's just say I feel like it's a melon fragrance which a different twist and I like it.

Final purchase for the day is evodia's Frangipani body mist. I have used the Frangipani shower gel and body lotion before and I loved the scent so of course I jumped at the chance to get the body mist. It's just so .. nice.. haha nice and fresh. Not too overpowering. It makes me happy :)

(below are ingredients lists if anyone is interested. please click to enlarge)

If you couldn't tell already, I hart body mists. I had to do this post super quick as my macbook was running out of batteries! Maybe this is a good thing that I didn't have too much time to write as my bf thinks I ramble too much and nobody reads ...

xox have a great day
I'm off to bed

Skincare Sunday: Skincare routine when your skin goes kablam!

(I'm counting on the fact that it's still Sunday somewhere in the world!)

SO, something has been breaking me out lately! and causing congested pores! (how dare they!) and I have to confess that I have no idea what it is because I'm a serial trialler-of-new-products-everyday. It might not even be one product, it might in fact be a bad combination of two products, in any case I have stopped using EVERYTHING. yes everything. I am going back to basics. back to cavewoman style. back to the old soap and water. but of course with some additions to quell the skincare lover within me (who got me into this mess in the first place - angry face - ) So I hope this helps anyone who is finding that their skin is just not behaving and just like a rebellious teenager, you should take away instead of giving more (I have no idea where that analogy came from .. maybe I was that rebellious teen haha). If you haven't figured it out already I have SUPER duper sensitive skin... (confession alert) I breakout from getting my eyebrows waxed..not a full blown breakout but definitely bumps ... so any sort of trauma to the skin (and boy does my skin get traumatised easily) causes planets or perhaps hills (mountains are too pointy) to form in that area | I will stop rambling now and tell you what I have been using (and will continue to use for another week or more, depends)

Skincare Routine: Day

| Cetaphil & water
| Garnier Anti-dark Circle Roller
| Garnier UltraLift Anti-wrinkle Roller
| Shiseido The Skincare Eye Moisture Recharge
| Avene Eau Thermale Spray
| L'oreal Triple Active Day Moisturier - dry skin

Skincare Routine: Makeup Removing & Night

| Lancome Bi-facil or Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Makeup Remover & cotton pad (not too fussed, sorry not pictured)
| Yes to carrots Gentle Exfoliating Facial Cleanser & Clarisonic (with sensitive head) | Garnier Anti-dark Circle Roller
| Garnier UltraLift Anti-wrinkle Roller
| Shiseido The Skincare Eye Moisture Recharge
| Avene Eau Thermale Spray
| Avene Eau Thermal Skin Recovery Cream

tips and alternatives below :)

cleansers

| Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser - dry sensitive skin
| Avene Eau Thermale Extremely Gentle Cleanser (& cotton pad)
This is similar to Cetaphil in that it's a semi transparent, no-water-required formula. It does not claim to remove makeup. I use these two in the morning or when I have not worn makeup that day.
| Garnier CleanSensitive Anti-tightness Cleansing Milk
| Neutrogena Visibly Clear Oil-Free Make-up Remover
There two are similar however the Garnier formula is more runny. They are both no-water-required formulas and claim to remove makeup. I would only use this for light makeup days such as tinted moisturiser or a light BB cream, or used in conjunction with another cleanser for heavy makeup days, that is foundation and powder.
| Pond's Cold Cream
This is a classic and I love it. I use this the same way as I do the two products above, so getting some on a cotton pad to wipe away makeup. This is a cream formula so it's thick and on some days it just feels too much but usually it's okay. I love this for removing stray eye makeup. Just get some on a cotton bud and gently swipe under your eyes to remove mascara/liner/shadow you didn't even know was there. Because it's a cream, it'll remove without tugging the skin.
| Yes to Carrots Gentle Exfoliating Facial Cleanser
This is a good cleanser and makeup remover (especially used with the Clarisonic). I use this when I have medium makeup on, medium foundation and powder. If I am wearing heaving makeup or find there is some residue I will use one of the no-water cleansers afterwards. This is the most gentle physical exfoliator I have ever tried. The exfoliating beads are tiny. It's suitable for everyday use. It doesn't scratch your skin. "Cleanses and Refreshes" - that's what it says. That's what it does. I just realised this.

creams

| L'oreal Triple Active Day Moisturiser - dry skin
This is a simple, no-fuss moisturiser which i bought for $3AUD at the Priceline Pink Dot sale and I'm kicking myself so hard for not buying 10 backups because it's discontinued and I love it. Seriously kicking myself. At the time I was thinking -dry skin- meh. I don't have dry skin ... well yes I do (thanks roaccutane). It's a nice balanced cream texture, not thick or greasy at all. Just moisturising ... nothing fancy, no SPFs or anything but there's SPF in almost everything else nowadays anyway.
| Avene Eau Thermale Skin Recovery Cream
I love this cream for night time as it's very calming and moisturising. Even when my skin is normal I like to give it that extra boost at night, where I'm not worried about it not sinking in instantly because I'm not going to be putting any makeup on top. For times when my skin gets cranky, like now (or when I accidently eat mayonnaise .. which I'm allergic to) this is perfect.
| Skin79 Dream Girls BB
| Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturiser - oil free
I like using these two products as it allows my skin to breath while providing some coverage as opposed to thicker BB creams (such as the Missha Perfect Cover BB - which has great coverage but it is thicker) or a foundation (which can irritate my skin even more and feel eurgh).
| Za True White Day Protector SPF 26
This is a good sunscreen for people who work in offices as it's hydrating (this is the new formula with the pink text) which is good for any centrally air-conditioned environment and it only has an SPF of 26 so it's enough assuming there is no direct sunlight in your office and glazing.
| Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Liquid PSF 55
This is a great sunscreen for outdoor people who like to wear makeup as it's also a great makeup base. I decide which sunscreen I use depending on what I'm going to be doing that day but I do like both as they feel good on the skin. That's really most important when your skin is feeling blah.

miscellaneous

i took these out of the bathroom but them forgot to photograph them ... -_- (no comment)

| CURE Natural Aqua Gel
This is a gentle, water-based exfoliant suitable for the most sensitive skin (that's what the website says and I have to say that I agree!) There are beads which exfoliant instead the gel reacts with the skin (somehow) and turn dead skin cells into these white bits of gunk (like rubber shavings but white) which of course you rinse of to leave (i guess) new skin. I believe it works because the more I use it, the less dead skin cells I have piled on my skin, the less white bits I get ... well that's my logic anyway. Just make sure you rinse the product off very well otherwise if you to rub your skin, the white bits will appear.
| Simple Deep Cleansing Face Mask
This is quite gentle and it uses natural clay but it doesn't feel tight like a normal clay mask at all. It has a white lotion consistency but just thick enough stay on your skin as a mask (although I wouldn't call it thick at all). This product baffles me as I don't know how it works to deep cleanse your skin, even though I do feel like my pore are cleaner afterwards. I guess I'm just used to hard, tight, grayness of other clay masks which this is nothing like and totally took me by surprise. Just don't leave it on for more than 10 minutes (it recommends 3) as it starts to feel weird and disappear. But that's hardly a con if it takes less time to use ... unless you're like me and you just tend to forget things ...

tips

| If you have sensitive skin, use products which say are for sensitive skin .. I'm as much as cynic about product labelling as the next person but if you at least stick to products which claim to be for sensitive skin then you are heading in the right direction
| Try to steer clear from alcohol. Alcohol can be an ingredient in any product but predominantly toners and some moisturisers. So stick to alcohol-free toners - I have tried both the Neutrogena and Simple ones which I love. I didn't show you because I didn't have any on hand because I was not ready for this :(
| Try and look for non-comedogenic products which basically means they don't clog the pores .. but they don't always not .. just saying
| Finally, LESS IS MORE

So that's about $50 worth of my two cents ... -crickets- ... (I know don't give up my day job right? Haha. If only I had one)

xox smile and be beautiful

Five Fab Finds For Friday: Blushtastic

Hello Beautylovers!

I hope you are all doing well. It is time for my Five Fab Finds For Friday!!! This is basically where I tell you five products that I have been loving for the past week :) and this has been a blushtastic week! Let's get to it --

1. NYX Eyeshadow Trio in Nude/Taupe/Dark Brown TS03
5.99USD nt wt 0.162oz 4.6g
-4 peachs-
Haha. Not the most original palette name but I think they're just the names of the eyeshadows which you can also get in as single shadows so if you only like one of the colours, or you only run out of one of the colours, just buy the single shadow. Pretty handy huh.
I have used this trio everyday this week to do a simple, everyday, neutral eye, perfect for uni and work. So yes that means I haven't gone out at all this week because the semester ends in two weeks so assignments are due and I can't wait to finish and PARTY! Haha not really, but I can't wait to finish. So right now I'm just UNI, WORK, BLOG. No time for crazy eye looks! The shadows are quite pigmented, I have always loved NYX shadows and are super good quality for the price. When swatched, they do look a bit chalky and powdery which was surprising to me because they do not come of like that at all on the eyes when applied with a brush. I tend to pat and then blend, if you're interested to know. There really isn't even any fallout either and especially with an eyeshadow primer there is none of that powderiness that you see in the swatch. The swatches on my hand are a much better indication of what they appear like on the lids - pigmented and pretty. Anyway, I love them and I have tonnes of other palettes from NYX but this is the one I have been loving for this week.

2. Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation in 72
1 fl oz 30mL
-4 peachs-
I LOVE Bourjois foundations in general. This one is super light, gives light to buildable medium coverage, and is so easy to blend. It's a dream to apply. It's supposed to be Vitamin E, F, B5 and Mineral enriched (I'm just ready this from the bottle). But basically it has tiny sparkles in it which are hardly detectable until you go in really close (so no twilight effects here dears) but which I assume just really wakes up your complexion and brings life into your skin, hence the name 10 Hour Sleep Effect (which is deceiving because for me sleeping for more than 8 hrs makes to feel worse than if I didn't sleep at all .. haha). It dries semi-matt meaning it's pretty matte, but not dead looking matte. It doesn't dry sticky, you probably don't need to set this if you don't want to (but setting for me is like applying mascara for some people, I just can't not do it. It's not right :o). I really like this foundation for everyday, especially right now when I'm sacrificing sleep to get through uni (and to blog of course <3)

3. Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick Compact in Nectar
nt wt 0.4oz 10.3g
-4 peachs-
I love BB's Shimmer Brick Compacts (and although there have been some quite good drugstore copycats, BB's sleep black packaging is just so nice...suck me in everytime. The big mirrors also handy).  It's the first swatch on the right (sorry about the backwardness) and so it's a really pretty simmering light metallic coral blush. Quite pretty ;) So gorgeous on the cheeks especially for pale skintones.

4. Milani Baked Powder Blush in Corallina
6.99USD nt wt 0.12oz 3.5g
-5 peachs-
OMGOSH This is so super duper pretty! It's ridiculous how brilliant it makes your cheeks glow like a lovely flushed blushing redish pink. It's so gorgeous I can't even explain myself. It looks matte in the swatch I have no idea why (my swatches are just failing you today -sad face-) but on your cheeks it's like that colour but with a glowy healthy sheen. These blushes are super pigmented so a little goes a LONG way, use a LIGHT hand. Seriously, haha. I think I own all the colours ... except for Bellissimo Bronze which is a shimmery bronze which would just no way work with my skintone (or if I don't have all of them, I WANT all of them!).

5. MAC Semi-Precious Rose Quartz MSF
nt wt o.22 oz 6.5g
-4 peachs-
This is one of my first MSF's and I love it's glowiness. I have been majorly coveting the healthy glowy cheeks this week - if you couldn't tell already (I think to aid my Bourjois 10 Hour Sleep Effect Foundation in helping me look awake and alert haha) and I love that this has the blush shade on the outer rim and a highlight shade in the centre. I do usually swirl my brush in the whole pan to mix the two and create the shimmery pale pinky peach shade (sort of a dusted rose) but I do also love them separately. I do find that the shimmers are chunkier than the other two blushes but this isn't too noticeable until you get close up and I did only find this when I was swatching it. I also want to try MAC's Soft and Gentle MSF...any thoughts anyone?

That's it for my Five Fab Finds For Friday! I hope you enjoyed. I know I ramble ... please comment if you hate my rambling long posts or if you're a fellow rambler! haha. Either way be sure to check back soon for Skincare Sunday where I shall be reviewing a new skincare love - Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish. Can't wait to tell you guys all about it!

xox be beautiful!
